This week it was announced that the Big Ten will have an excellent opportunity to defend itself versus its SEC critics. The only problem is it won't happen for another 10 YEARS! On Thursday it was announced that The Ohio State University and The University of Tennessee have reached an agreement to play a home-and-home series starting in...
...wait for it...
...2018!
I guess the Luckeyes couldn't get Youngstown State off the schedule until 10 years from now and Middle Tennessee State wouldn't back down on its 10 year commitment to be Smokey's lap dog (er dragon).
Well we can always look on the bright side. By the time they play each other it will be a battle of the ages pitting Heath Shuler's boy vs. Mo Clarett's 2nd son! Whoever wins this match should be an early front runner for the Heisman and NFL draft bust stardom!
May the next ten years go as fast as the last! Oh the good old days of 1998, when Nebraska and Florida State mattered and USC and OU prayed to become bowl eligible.
Come on college football! Give the public what they want and give it to us sooner!

That's Congressman Shuler to you.

hey dummy...As a Middle Tennessee fan, it'd be funny if it were even halfway near the truth, but it's not, so it's just a pathetic and lame shot at a Sun Belt program by a BC$ pimpin' halfwit blogger. Excuse me if I don't have much of a sense of humor at baseless and totally unnecessary shots at my university...
ReplyDeleteMiddle Tennessee has played ut-knoxville in football once, back in 2002. The Blue Raiders currently don't have a deal to play the vols in football, much less a ten year deal. Middle Tennessee has home and home deals with in-state rivals Memphis and Vanderbilt. We also have deals that bring Missisppi State, Maryland and Georgia Tech to Murfreesboro. MT fans don't care about playing programs that won't come to Middle Tennessee in return. Thankfully the university is trying to wean itself off those one trip/no return games. So I don't think we'll see ut-k on MT's football schedule in the near future...
So thanks for the totally unprovoked and gratuitous slam...
Tom,
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking out the blog and giving your comment. In case you haven't noticed this blog is trying to shed light on some of the crazy/funny things that happen in college football. In order to do this we end up making fun of quite a few programs. Trust me that no one is safe. We will get to everyone eventually.
As far as the joke in this post, I am positive that Youngstown State does not have a ten year deal with "the" Ohio State, although it feels like it.
On a serious note, I am glad to finally meet someone that is a MTSU grad as I really want to know why your mascot is a blue, winged, horse? I guess there are more ridiculous things out there, like a buckeye...
I have an idea...
